SpinPoi is a structured, supportive therapuetic activity where people can explore movement, rhythm and creativity using poi.
The programs are designed with the support, guidance and research backing of Dr Kate Riegle Van West, the founder of Spinpoi in New Zealand.
Looking for a fun, beneficial and inclusive activity for older adults?
SpinPoi for Older Adults is a 4-session creative movement program designed to help participants explore movement, rhythm, coordination, balance, hand control and self-expression in a supportive environment.
Using poi, participants learn simple movements and patterns through structured activities, free exploration, routines and gentle cool-down exercises.

Sessions can be adapted for seated or standing participation, with participants encouraged to work within their own comfortable range of movement and take breaks whenever they need them.
There is no pressure to be perfect and no requirement to perform.
Every participant can learn, explore and progress in their own way.
The program may be particularly suitable for older adults, people looking for gentle movement activities, people returning to activity after periods of reduced mobility, and individuals who enjoy music, rhythm, creativity or trying something different.
It may also be suitable as a complementary activity for people living with Parkinson's disease or participating in rehabilitation, subject to individual medical and allied-health advice.

Participants are encouraged to discuss whether SpinPoi is appropriate for their individual circumstances with their doctor, physiotherapist, occupational therapist or other relevant healthcare professional where required.
